Seeker Be Silver "Penny" came into her family's life at eleven years old, purchased from Debbie Forst at Glade Springs where her future companion had been taking riding lessons. What began as a practical arrangement—Debbie simply didn't have the time to work with the spirited mare—blossomed into a partnership that would span many wonderful years together. Penny was feisty and energetic from the start, with a stubborn streak that would become legendary among those who knew her, yet beneath that determined exterior beat the heart of a deeply loyal and social horse who craved connection and adventure.

The bond between Penny and her rider created magic in the show ring and on the trails alike. Together they earned countless ribbons, competing multiple times at the West Virginia State Fair where Penny excelled in walk/jog and trail classes. She was a horse who lived life with unbridled enthusiasm—literally jumping every ditch and stream she encountered on trail rides, though she would spook dramatically at deer and execute perfect 180-degree turns that kept her rider on their toes. Penny's social nature and mischievous spirit shone through in memorable moments: stealing a baby horse from another mare at Jack Pate's barn, escaping at a horse show to search for her companion Snickers like a wild horse on a mission, and traveling to Myrtle Beach for The Heart Association ride. Her stubborn nature was so pronounced that Paula Cornett once joked that a mule wasn't necessary with Penny around, and her beautiful coat transformed from faint gray to brilliant white over the years, making her absolutely photogenic despite being challenging to keep clean.
